Washington, D.C. – A senior military leader of Hurras al-Din, an Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group, was killed in a U.S. airstrike in Syria, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
Precision Strike Targets High-Ranking Terrorist
The airstrike eliminated Muhammed Yusuf Ziya Talay, a key figure in Hurras al-Din, as part of ongoing U.S. efforts to disrupt terrorist activities. CENTCOM confirmed the strike in a press release, emphasizing its commitment to protecting American and allied forces from terrorist threats.
“As we have said in the past, we will continue to pursue relentlessly these terrorists in order to defend our homeland, and U.S., allied, and partner personnel in the region,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of CENTCOM.
Series of US Strikes Against Hurras al-Din
Since January 2024, CENTCOM has conducted multiple precision airstrikes targeting top leaders of the Al-Qaeda affiliate:
- Jan. 30: Muhammad Salah al-Za’bir, a senior operative, was killed in Syria.
- Feb. 16: A high-ranking finance and logistics official was eliminated.
- Feb. 22: Wasim Tahsin Bayraqdar, described as a “senior leadership facilitator,” was taken out in another strike.
Trump Praises US Military for Counterterrorism Success
Former President Donald Trump commended CENTCOM and Gen. Kurilla after the latest strike, stating they had “dealt justice” to another terrorist threatening the U.S. and its allies.
Trump also recently supported efforts to recover military equipment left behind in Afghanistan, further reinforcing his stance on national security and counterterrorism operations.
