Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon are causing widespread destruction and civilian casualties, Lebanon’s Health Minister declared, calling the situation “carnage.” The strikes, which are part of the ongoing military conflict, have led to severe damage in multiple regions, with hospitals struggling to cope with the influx of casualties.
In a press briefing, the Health Minister detailed the aftermath of recent attacks, reporting significant loss of life and injuries to civilians. Hospitals in the affected areas are overwhelmed, facing shortages of medical supplies as the death toll rises. Many of those injured are women, children, and the elderly, sparking outrage among Lebanese officials.
The strikes come amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, the militant group based in Lebanon. In response to rocket attacks launched from southern Lebanon into Israeli territory, Israel has intensified its military operations, targeting what it claims are Hezbollah positions. However, civilian areas have been caught in the crossfire, with residential buildings, infrastructure, and key services devastated by the attacks.
The Health Minister urged international intervention to stop the violence, warning of an impending humanitarian crisis. “The situation is catastrophic,” he said, “We are seeing carnage, and our health system is at breaking point.” Local authorities have echoed these concerns, calling for immediate ceasefires and negotiations.
Humanitarian groups operating in Lebanon have also expressed alarm over the deteriorating situation. Aid workers are struggling to reach affected regions due to the destruction of roads and transportation networks. Many areas have been left without electricity, clean water, or adequate shelter, further compounding the suffering of civilians trapped in the conflict zone.
While Israel maintains that its strikes are aimed at neutralizing threats posed by Hezbollah, Lebanon’s government insists that the disproportionate impact on civilians is unacceptable.
